Purchased for my child's 7yo birthday - he loves civil aircraft, and this book was definitely a hit. Very detailed descriptions; individual aircraft specification presented along with large clear colored photos. I purchased this together with the Boeing Jetliners color series book, but I believe my son prefers this book. Overall, very pleased with purchase.

Excellent detail of the greatest planes that have been flown. Great drawings that show specifications and how each planes difference . Also, good reading about them and what makes each one so special.

Lacked a small bit in coverage but a great new encyclopedia to have in collection

Many identification guides have been written concerning commercial aircraft, but this field guide is the latest in my memory that features the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and the new Bombardier CSeries regional jet. I like how the writer provided concise specifications and 3-view illustrations of each aircraft.

This book is nicely laid out with photos and drawings, but as an historic review of the world's major commercial airliners, it neglects to include the Consolidated Convair series of airliners (240/340/440). This significant airliner basically replaced the DC-3 for short haul work and was purchased and used extensively by virtually every major US airline and most of the major European carriers. A book of this type cannot fail to include this important airliner in the history of commercial aviation. In addition, the authors include the Russian supersonic airliner, which hardly flew and never made a mark on civil aviation history.

Incredibly disingenuous to not include a redeem code for the test that the whole book is based around in Kindle version. If I'd like to get the most out of this book I have to purchase in a redeem code even though I've already purchased the book.If this is the business model that you teach I am not interested in learning it.Edit to add - The Kindle version actually costs more yet still has no redeem code for the mypdna test.

I can sure appreciate several points raised by Dane Sanders. I was moved by the intro that I had found a book written for me. But the longer I read, it became clear that I was being strung along. Always hinting that he would reveal the secret, but never actually coming through, that is, without buying into another book or service.I haven't finished it yet, but I've lost faith in him and need a break before I give him more of my time.

This is an excellent book for any photographer wanting to start or continue doing business in today's market. Dane takes a very realistic approach to being successful in the current business climate we are in. He understands how photography has changed with the advent of the digital camera. Today's professional photographer is the craftsman who has honed their skills and uses their camera as an artist uses their brush.

If you want to start a photo biz, this won't be the only resource you'll use -- but it should certainly be one of the first things you read. It will help give you a clear, big-picture view of what it takes. The author aims to set you up for success in the digital age, or to help you decide that a business venture is not for you; either way, it's money well spent.And don't let the title "fast track" get you thinking it's a "quick fix." Setting up a business correctly still takes work -- but if you do it right, it will happen faster than if you muddle around making the mistakes others have already made. Well, that's the theory.I've read it through once, and now I'm going to start going through all the exercises one by one...

This results in an odd and at times distracting bias in the text. For example, in Chapter 1, the UltraSPARC T2 (aka niagara2) is used as the example modern processor instead of say the Intel CoreI7 (aka nehalem, westmere). Then there are many references to the Sun Studio compiler and specific compiler options. Yes, gcc and icc are covered although often after Sun Studio. The coverage of Oracle/Sun in this book does not match current market share, and sadly probably does not match future market share.Bias aside, this is a very good book on practical multicore programming. Read the other two (as of this writing) reviews. They lay it on a bit thick, but I basically agree. My one gripe is that the author is overly fond of automatic parallelization and Sun Studio's autopar. Having used a Sun Fire server for years, I have tried and been underwhelmed by autopar. Anyone reading this book would not satisfied with autopar. Also, mixing automatic parallelization in the same chapter with OpenMP does OpenMP a disservice.

Browsing through this book at the local bookstore, I found it to be a suitable road map for learning how to program multicore systems. There are several topics and technologies in this subject, and the book covers them broadly. I say this because the reader has to pursue each topic in depth through other resources. These are highlighted in the references section. (For example, to learn POSIX threads programming, I've followed through by studying Robbins and Robbins' "UNIX System Programming" and Kerrisk's "The Linux Programming Interface". As both these in turn point to Butenhof's book, I'll probably follow the trail there too ...) Thorough details on such things as NPTL, to the niggler's delight, are found beyond Gove's book."Multicore Application Programming" is useful for the aspiring system programmer.
