In the "She Can" series the character Sean always is present as the supportive, helpful security whiz. Married with a gorgeous wife and two children, his home welcomes friends and family. Finally Sean gets his story (even if it is short). Taking a "bus-man's" holiday, Sean and Amanda look forward to a quiet weekend retreat from their hectic schedules. And, of course, Ms. Leigh does not allow that. That is all I am revealing. Great characters, fast pace and total involvement to the end made this a fine one-hour suspenseful read in between commitments. Enjoyed it thoroughly.

I completed my household chores after work last evening and was still able to read this short story by bedtime. The story was engrossing and offered at a bargain price.The villains--a psychopath and three others who are sort of "psychopaths-lite," are believable. The alpha male hero is not a mere stereotype but is capable of worthwhile introspection--in fact, a surprising amount considering the length of the story.All-in-all, this "booklet" is an excellent example of its type. The action is rapid-fire, a surprise or two pops up and the characters are as well developed as such a short tale could possibly allow.

I've loved reading about the folks of Westbury; wondering if Sean and Amanda would have a story! Well, they did in this very exciting and suspenseful short story. This book quickly got into the story! Melinda Leigh knows how to peak interest with her steamy love stories and intrigue! I would recommend starting with Book 1 of this series.......getting to know the people in this small rural community, the law enforcement members, and how news travels quickly in small towns!

I have to admit, I started reading this right after finishing one of Allison Brennan's books and for a moment, I thought I was reading another Allison Brennan (the whole Sean thing.)I really liked this story; I think that it was definitely even more intense and graphic than Leigh's other work. It packed a lot of action into ~50 pages. I don't know if these characters will be showing up again, but I hope so.Highly recommend.© Angela Risner 2014. While written well, with some good characterizations and smooth plot line, this story felt too contrived.The bad guys were almost caricatures, with the uncle the only one to control the nephew, the quiet one, and the one in control. Also, their connection to Mia... contrived.There were also continuity errors. I didn't expect that.

Once you start, you won't be able to put it down. My main complaint (and hence the 4 stars rather than 5) is the amount of foul language this author uses in her books. And it's not coming only from the bad guys. At times I feel like it bombards the reader. I know that I may be in the minority on that point, but it just seems so unnecessary. Otherwise, a great suspenseful read!

Fifty nine pages of evil, action and a thrill ride!!! Who would imagine a business/pleasure trip would turn into a nightmare? A short story involving Sean and Amanda Wilson, giving us an insight as to how life can be unpredictable and threatening. As much as it was a horrific experience, Amanda stayed strong and Sean kept his wits to save everyone from four armed men. The whole story was a fast and even paced narration to a great end. Even being a short story, the chemistry and trust between Amanda and Sean was palpable.Thanks Melinda for giving me an opportunity to review the book :)

It amazes me that there could be such character development in a short story. The author is that good. This is the my introduction to Ms. Leigh and I shall look for more of her work. I'm sold.

Not all books are good. This book however, was actually quite bad. The story line constantly alludes to "Alex", someone who is assumed to step into the story sooner than later. Never happens. The book is authored by Dr. Bill Williams and is about Alex and how Alex helped 5 dentists.Not only is the author oftentimes bragging about their own success, but he believes that the small tidbits of help he has jotted down hurriedly will actually improve the lot of the practicing dentist.This book is an absolute sham and the author should be embarrassed to put such a paltry effort into helping his fellow colleagues, when clearly this book is to stroke his own ego and display his success.Where are the details? The author speaks in such generic terms. Yes, some of the ideas are helpful, but how do you implement them? There must be more than 5 keys to success in building a $10,000 a day practice, surely?If you see Appendix 2 you will find a reference to 50 ways to become Successful (50 ways to become a $10k a day dentist). In the appendix you will see 50 references to pages throughout the book. For example:- pg 34 is about Advance Planning. Summary = the author tells us to plan ahead, to set goals, and to be strategic. To me, if not everyone, this is extremely obvious. How is the authors method of planning more effective than the average dentist? We'll never know, I supposed.For the expense of the book I would have imagined something more in-depth, more substantial, and more helpful.Wouldn't recommend buying.

As a two time 5M Solstice Mastermind participant with the author Dr Bill Williams I can assure you the he is the real deal and this book is a realinspiration to me and my office...just the idea that we could produce and collect such an amount wasn't in my consciousness as being possible...I thought I was just being realistic...once I became inspired our production started to exceed $10,000 on a regular basis...my office manager told me it wasn't realistic...once she became inspired we started producing even greater numbers...we now believe it and it happens...if you believe and take the steps Dr Williams tells you about you will be a $10,000/ day dentist also!...I highly recommend this book!

I was flipping through this book at a half priced book store. Saw some hype on it either on Dental Town or maybe a chat room. Well there's really nothing in it. I mean there's words, and they are strung together in sentences, but all the stuff mentioned is either really common sense or buffoonery. I think the reason why some people write books is to give themselves credit so they can say they are an "accomplished author". I don't see any of that in this book.

Dr. Williams is a master in marketing not only in dentistry but in overall small business growth. He breaks down years of experience into clear actionable steps in this book that any dental practice could apply to make big impacts. I highly recommend reading this book and using it as a practical guide in building a successful business.

Dinosaur A-Z is a great book for toddlers who love dinosaurs. My kids loved the book and ask for it every day. I would totally recommend it for any toddler who loves dinosaurs. The book has stood up to 3 year old twins dragging it around everywhere. The pages are pretty thick. I would note the pictures are of realistic dinosaurs and not cartoons. Spoiler Alert - there isn't a T-Rex in the book, which has caused disappointment for the kids.

What a gorgeous dinosaur book! I truly wish I owned this one as a child. My almost-two-year-old is obsessed with dinosaurs (dee-saurs, he calls them!), so I bought this book to teach him a few more dinosaurs along with his ABCs. I was blown away by the quality of this title. The pages are full-color on heavier weight, glossy paper, so it's really a treat to flip through. As for the content, I was impressed to find that the pronunciations are included on each page! No more messing up dinosaur names, hooray! I can't recommend this book enough. I will probably start buying this book for all the little children in my life now, that's how much we enjoy it.

My little dinosaur loving 2 year old daughter is obsessed with this book. It gives her a ton of excitement to read.

It's great for the kids too! We have read this book so often in the year that we've had it that it's barely held together anymore. This truly is THE book for kids who really love dinosaurs. You and your child(ren) will learn 26 dinosaurs- one for each letter of the alphabet. Many are new but there will be a few familiar faces too. We have quite a few dinosaur books, both fiction and non-fiction but this one is the favorite. If your child isn't a dinosaur lover they might be better off with dinosaur fiction.Pros:-The pronunciation! It's wonderful. I can now confidently point out a Parasaurolophus or Ouranosaurus and state their name without hesitation. It's hands down the best feature of this book, especially for the parents.-The details. You can find out how big each dinosaur is compared to an adult man and how some of them compare to cars, buses, kids and more. You'll learn what each dinosaur eats, what their name means, if they are fast or slow and much more information. It's easy to read each entire page or keep it simple for younger readers by only reading the names or talking about the pictures.-It's a board book. Another reviewer stated that it might deter older readers from seeking out this book and I agree, but it also makes it a sturdier book. There should be an edition for older readers.-The pictures. They are realistic rather than cartoon-y.Cons:-The size of the book makes it difficult to fit on a regular shelf. I understand that there is so much to fit on each page and that the larger words are important for younger readers but it does make it harder to store.

Great book

My 5yo granddaughter is really into dinosaurs and dragons. She has a lot of dino figures and electronic dino toys. With the new Jurassic Park movie coming out she's started being more interested in the actual names of the dinosaurs. I found this book online and thought it would encourage her to become more interested in books and less in electronic means of exploring her interests. To be honest I didn't expect much because of the low price for a hardcover edition, but was pleasantly surprised to find the book very informative with photo like graphics. A definitive must for ages 3 to 11

Wonderful dinosaur book and most importantly it tells you how to pronounce the name! There is one dinosaur per page and just enough facts to be interesting but not overwhelming. I bought one for my 4 year old son and for 6 year old nephew.

I bought a used hardback and I must say it was in perfect condition, couldn't tell it was even used! Our daughter is obsessed with Dinosaurs so we got this for her 4th birthday. It's hard to find a good Dinosaur book for kids with dinosaurs they haven't heard of already; like the basic T-REX. The pictures and descriptions were great as well, even had a "say my name" which was super cute and funny hearing both my daughter and I trying to say some of those long odd Dinosaur names. Its been 3 weeks and still her favorite book. Shipping was fast and on time. I will ordering more from this Seller/Author and would also recommend this book for anybody who has a love for discovering new Dinosaurs.

This is a much better instant recipe book than any others I’ve seen. Each recipe gives directions for both instant pot and slow cooker. There are also nice color pictures for each recipe. Easy to follow and yummy results of the recipes I’ve tried so far.

If you need a book about screwing, this is it. I don't want to be vulgar, but this is absolutely, cover to cover, a sex manual. It is factual, offers real information and some advise, and in wholly intended to de-mystify sex. It is well organized, clearly annotated, and well illustrated. Goofy foot press has been printing the "Guide to getting it on" for a long time, and this book makes clear why it is still so popular. If you like to have sex, if you are curious about sex, if you are nervous about sex, if you want information you can actually trust about sex written by people who have done the homework, this is the book for you. It could easily be a sex textbook, and if it isn't, it should be. This is, it should be noted, the unzipped edition, which means it is somewhat shorter and more concise. That doesn't make it bad, it's just not as expansive or in depth as the full version.

I am not new to sex. But I'm always open to learning new things. I bought this because a new partner was reading it. It really didn't give me any vast amounts of new info, however the personal "case study" interviews and anecdotes were enlightening. I am much more inclined to give my partner a hand job, and I'm much more confident of my technique, after reading what the author had to say about why men would prefer a hand job by a partner, even if it's not as vigorous or fast as they would give themselves. I also enjoyed the chapter on balls, and told my partner "Apparently I'm not playing with your balls correctly," to which he replied (with raised eyebrows) "I'm sure you're wrong about that." And then I told him the book told me so, and we both just laughed. It was an interesting thing to share together, and did actually deepen our experience of getting to know each other's bodies. I'm sure we're having better sex every time because of this book, if for no other reason than it sparked an ongoing conversation about sex that was less scary and fraught with emotion than any other partner I've had in the past. Talking about what we read took our conversations out of the realm of "I wish you'd do such and such more," or "You never do such and such," and into "I read that people like such and such. Could I try that on you?" Which turned out to be so much more fun for both of us.That said, I HIGHLY recommend this book to all newbies and young people. I find it much more accessible than "The Joy of Sex," which is the book I read during puberty. The chatty, breezy style replete with jokes and slang makes the topic friendly and comfortable. And honestly, isn't sex better when you're comfortable? The illustrations are kind of hilarious, but aren't truly necessary to the book. The number one thing I like about this book is the interviews and "case study" anecdotes that are included. Reading other people's experiences and preferences has made me much more comfortable about my own experiences and preferences. Even an old fogey like me can learn new things from this book.

Thoroughly enjoy it and reference back to it. Recommend for anyone!My 3 daughters have a copy of an older version that my ex gave without telling me.....so, now I'm over that. The oldest, 22yrs enjoys it and it is an ice breaker to discuss relationships and sexual activity....17yr and 19 yr old see that it is and will be helpful information...they just aren't as comfortable with the topics yet :)

This book is amazingingly uncensored & uncomfortably informative & engaging. I purchased the book for my undergraduate Sexual Health class and reading it doesn’t feel like homework. I recommend this book for anyone in any age group, especially today’s curious teenagers who constantly rely on porn for everything they think they know about sex, their partner, receiving/giving pleasure, and about their own bodies. This book has all the answers porn, your parents, & your friends could never tell you or help you discover about yourself. If you had to pick up any book, let it be this one. Your brain and other private parts of your body won’t regret it. Unless of course you’re a nun, then by all means stay far away from this sinful book 😂

I first stumbled across an earlier print copy of this in my teammate's room when I was a freshman in college...and I stole it. The guide changed my life then, and it continues to do so now. This isn't just a how-to or an explanation-of. It's an everything book. There are few subject areas that this doesn't cover, and it's bound to answer pretty much any question you have. I bought this Kindle version to have an updated one and to make sure that I always have access to it. I've always thought it was amazing and it's only gotten better. The illustrations and the straightforward writing style make it very approachable and easy to understand. And buying the Kindle version means no one can steal it from you either.

Great information written in a fun way, this is not a Dr. Ruth book, highly informative and I recommend to not only newbies and the curious but lots to learn for those experienced as well.

I got this book for my friend she was curious but not enough to watch porn or go search internet. She loved it and I am getting another copy which my boyfriend and I excited to read. It’s well written and even though we are adults it’s nice to review and get new ideas.

I love the long pass plays, the plays where the runner breaks free, the scrambles and miracle catches. But I also love the tough hits, the flattening of the quarterback, the open-field tackles. However, as the players get bigger and the game gets faster, these big hits take a toll, more and more.Dr. Bennett Omalu, a Nigerian doctor, came to the U.S. to pursue the American dream and wound up in the middle of a controversy that shook up the sport of football. Using first-hand accounts, as well as lengthy passages in Omalu's own voice, Jeanne Marie Laskas tells Omalu's story in Concussion. Dr. Omalu had never heard of "Iron Mike" Webster before his body arrived in the coroner's office where he worked. Omalu began studying his brain and the brains of other football players, discovering in the process a brain disorder he labelled chronic traumatic encephalopathy.Needless to say, his findings were not popular with the NFL, whose hired researchers were busy debunking the idea that football leads to brain damage. Omalu stubbornly continued his research and ultimately changed the landscape of football. Despite the efforts to improve helmet technology, the movement of the brain inside the skull can't be prevented in a collision. As the brain is jostled on play after play, damage accumulates and may not manifest itself until years later.As long as the teams line up every weekend, I and millions of fans will be cheering them on. Fans, the NFL, college coaches, and coaches and players all the way down to the peewee leagues need to evaluate the way they coach, the way they play, and the extent to which they value the individual player. Even if you're not much of a football fan, you may remember some controversy a few years back when the NFL, confronted with evidence that their players were in danger of permanent brain damage, established some new rules intended to tone down the worst of the inherent roughness of football and prevent players who had sustained a head injury from going back onto the field until fully recovered. A lot of fans thought that was sort of a sissy move: after all, the violence of huge, solidly-built men slamming into each other was part of the thrill of the game, and the risk of injury has always been part of any sport. In this case, however, the players really hadn't been in a position to make an informed decision about risks and rewards. Anecdotal evidence and independent studies of the effects of multiple concussions in rats had suggested for years that what happened on the football field couldn't possibly be good for the brain, but the NFL quickly arranged its own team of experts, and they insisted there was no danger. Then, one day in 2002, a young medical examiner in Pittsburgh, acting on a hunch, decided in the course of a routine autopsy to take a closer look at the brain of a pro football player. The brain belonged to Hall of Famer "Iron Mike" Webster, who had, in the final years of his life, become increasingly violent, irrational, and paranoid. The medical examiner, Bennet Omalu, was a Nigerian immigrant, driven and curious, protégé of the celebrated forensic pathologist Cyril Wecht. What he discovered in Webster's brain would set in motion a chain of events that would ruin careers, expose cover-ups, and very likely save lives.It's a true story that, even without embellishment, reads like the plot of a novel. Jeanne Marie Laskas has never written a novel, but she's well-known for her creative, intimate narrative nonfiction - and now she has turned the literary gifts that served her so well over the course of a trilogy of memoirs to this tale of sports and science. Readers interested exclusively in the medical and/or legal aspects of the NFL head-trauma controversy might well be advised to look elsewhere, as "Concussion" is first and foremost Dr. Omalu's story - but even they might find this lively little book a genial supplement to the more comprehensive or technical literature. Laskas's portrait of the quirky neuropathologist, though not always flattering (Omalu can be inconsistent and naive), is suffused with warmth and admiration. Although Omalu's work on chronic traumatic encephalopathy, what I'd picked up the book to read about in the first place, is barely alluded to in the first 85 pages, so engaging is Laskas's account of her subject's early life and education, and so quickly did the pages of smooth prose seem to turn themselves, that I hardly noticed the delay."Concussion" would be worth reading for the inherent interest of the story alone, but Laskas's presentation is, for the most part, an asset. As her Acknowledgements make clear, she researched her story with the thoroughness of a journalist, but she relates it with the vividness and flow of that sometimes enigmatic subgenre, the nonfiction novel. Instead of dumping information on us, she often recreates events and conversations "as accurately as an informed imagination will allow." Unfortunately, I have a couple of minor quibbles with her style. Her alternating use of past and present tenses in different chapters or sections of the book didn't really work for me. Done right, a shift from past to present tense can add tension and immediacy to a narrative, but there didn't seem to be any rule governing Laskas's decision to use one or the other, and it felt a bit sloppy. I was also mildly confused by occasional passages printed in italics that seemed to be written in Dr. Omalu's own voice, unsure whether these were truly Omalu's own words or Laskas's creative reconstruction of his thought process. (It's the former, but that isn't made clear until the Acknowledgements.)I can't help wanting to call special attention to the wisdom and understanding Laskas brings to the parts of the book that describe Omalu's struggle with depression as a young adult. I don't know whether Laskas (or someone very close to her) has actually suffered from depression, or if she just listened to Omalu's own account with unusual empathy, but I can say for certain that she *gets* it. Seldom have I read before, even in books specifically about the subject of depression, anything like this: "Depression starts like a membrane, a shield you can't pierce, the internal world so vivid and nagging, the external world right *there*, right in front of you. He felt angry at the world for being so difficult to enter. . . . Depression is like a virus festering in your mind, and the discovery of it can cripple before it cures. . . . Depression isn't a thing that lifts or disappears just because of a change of scenery. The voice follows you no matter where you go, reminding you that you are worthless." That's some powerful stuff - and with black sufferers being less likely than whites, and men less likely than women, to seek treatment for depression, I can't thank Laskas and Omalu enough for giving the world the story of a Nigerian man who struggled in that black fog for years, then emerged to accomplish great things.

"This is nonfiction. This is nonfiction." That is what I kept reminding myself while reading this enthralling and spellbinding (nonfiction!) book by Jeanne Marie Laskas.Of course, it is nonfiction. It made big headlines. It was made into a movie. The story is big and bold—how Bennet Omalu, a Nigerian-born physician with two medical degrees and a specialization in forensic pathology, discovered CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy) as a cause of death in retired football players. Translation: The constant head pounding—even without ever getting a concussion—that is part of the game of football can cause brain deterioration and severe personality changes. CTE is fatal; it is directly linked to the deaths or suicides of multiple former NFL players.Of course, the NFL was outraged. NFL-paid physicians did all they could to denigrate Bennet's research. Think a real-life David and Goliath, but instead of a slingshot filled with rocks, Bennet had slides of brain tissue proving something horrendous really was happening. And since facts are far more formidable than falsities, facts eventually won, but not without a big price for all involved—especially Bennet.Jeanne Marie Laskas is such an amazingly gifted writer that the book (nonfiction!) reads like a novel—so much so that at times, I shook my head thinking "THAT would never happen." Oh, wait. It's nonfiction. It DID happen.Don't worry if you know how this (nonfiction!) book ends. The beginning, the middle and the rest of it are so fascinating and written with such intense page-turning suspense, I highly encourage you to read it.
