I enjoyed reading Ships of Dreams. I checked Elaine LeClaire other books. I was stunned! Ships of Dreams is her first book. She did an excellent job with the characters. She’s knowledgeable with different types of ships and fluent in French. The storyline was full of adventure and suspenseful. I liked Lady Rosalind Hanshaw’s insubordination and strength throughout book.I’d like to hear what happen to Beatrice. She was on her way to Jamaica to become a governess. The ending didn’t mention whether or not Beatrice left Chez Jardin.I recommend! Her writing was remarkable and the characters popped out of the pages.
CW: lack of respect for boundariesNGL, I almost DNF'd this book with a 1-syar review before I got to the hero's pov. His actions, out of context, were cringe-inducingly rapey. Even after I got his side of the story, I was less than impressed. He refuses to respect the heroine's boundaries, convinced he knows what's best for her.The author displays vast knowledge of shipboard life, but only superficial knowledge of pirates. None of them appear to follow any sort of code.The book dragged in the middle and I almost gave up on it then, but it picked up near the end, and I'm glad I finished it.
The author brings together an assortment of characters to engage the reader in this tale of piracy, betrayal, and redemption. The romance between villain and victim turns out to be an unexpected plus in this adventure in the Caribbean.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I don't usually like or read these types of novels but this book was well written and kept my interest . I would like read more by Elaine LeClaire

Warning...this appeared under a Christian historical romance search. It is NOT Christian...way too steamy...way to worldly.Beware spoilers below.But as my title states, there is a great deal of action and excitement that keeps the pages turning. Was very disappointed at how the story abruptly ended. More time was needed to see Beatrice settled and Rosiland's mother comforted. And maybe Yves growing softer toward his captain's bride.
Ms. Csernica's book really swept me away. I haven't read a romance book in some time and it took me a moment to appreciate the heroine. Then I loved her for how strong and determined she was. Alexandre was hot hot hot. I am so glad i read this book and recommend it to anyone who wants to slip away into another world of romance and adventure.
