This a a great introductory text on the subject of clastic petrology. Tucker gives a very good overview of sandstone petrology and diagenesis as well as a nice amount of information on clay and siltstones. This textbook makes a great supplement to more in-depth scholarly articles on the subjects contained within its pages.

Well written and very good textbook written for petrographic study however; not enough examples of petrographic photos of thin sections wer included in teh book which is really what you need to identify textures, matrix minerals, and diagenteic fabrics. Iwould not recommend this book as a refernce tool in this regard.
